Generally Speaking

Welcome to our combined August/September issue, the result of receiving so many great photos for the World Show, and the GSD National, all needing to be collated, worked and laid out, plus heaps of interesting material the time, and as I do it all myself, the time just got away on us! Brisbane, Adelaide and the three Spring Show BIS winners are also featured and these events will all be covered in great pictorial spreads next issue.

Australian athletes have recently achieved extraordinary results, as well as some outstanding sporting team wins there have been the magnificent personal efforts of others, particularly Cadel Evans won who the Tour de France, Sally Pearson who won world championship gold in the 100 metres hurdles, and now Sam Stosur has won the US Ladies Open in tennis. It was wonderful to see the support and recognition expressed by so many people in the dog world, proving we are not just a small insular population obsessed with winning ribbons for ourselves.

Meanwhile the Dachshund Miniature Smooth UK Ch Sonderbar Billie Jean At Stargang (imp Aust) mentioned last month has continued her fantastic run of success at the very prestigious City of Birmingham show in the UK with RUNNER UP BEST IN GROUP to the Crufts Runner Up BIS, Petit Basset Griffon Vendeen Ch Soletrader Peek A Boo.

4th was the Australian bred Saluki, Baghdad Karim (imp Aust) Sh CM
